Edward Charles Timpner

	Edward Charles Timpner, age 89, of rural Pinckneyville, died Sunday, February 17, 2002 at 8:28 a.m. in the Pinckneyville Community Hospital Skilled Care Unit.
	Ed was born in Pinckneyville on August 9, 1912, the son of Edward and Magdalena Elizabeth (Bahre) Timpner.  He married Margaret C. Schickedanz on April 9, 1938 in DuQuoin and she preceded him in death on January 7, 1991.
	During his lifetime he attended Kimzey Grade School, was a graduate of Pinckneyville Community High School, graduated in 1934 from Southern Illinois Normal University with a Bachelor's Degree in Education and attended Brown Business School.  He worked with the Hoyelton Children's Home, worked for LaRowe Ford Garage as a partsman from 1938 - 1940, worked for Schulze-Malone Lumber Company as a bookkeeper from 1940 - 1943, was a partner in the Timpner-Feltmeyer Roofing Company from 1942 - 1943 and was a self-employed farmer from 1943 until retirement.  He served as Director for the Egyptian Electric Cooperative for many years, where he was also Vice-President during 1961 - 62 and 1980, and President from 1962 - 66, Past Director of the Association of Illinois electric Cooperative, having served as Secretary/Treasurer from 1969 - 76 and served as Secretary from 1955 until his retirement.  He was the Perry County Noxious Weed Commissioner from 1965 until his retirement.  He was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ where he taught and served as Superintendent of their Sunday School and was  a member of their Consistory.  He was Past Director of the Perry County H.I.A., an agent for Randolph Mutual Insurance and an agent for Grennell Mutual Re-Insurance Company since 1973.  He was a member of the Perry County Farm Bureau since its inception and a member of the Perry County Historical Society.
	Survivors include two sons:  Gary Lee Timpner and his wife Irma and Ralph Edward Timpner and his wife Helen Rae, all of Pinckneyville; two daughters, Marcella Rae Sharp and husband Jim of Brookfield, Conn. and Susan Marie Wassung and husband David of Papillion, Neb.; 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
	He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; a sister, Mary C. Greer and a brother, William B. Timpner.
	Funeral services were held on Thursday, February 21 at 11 a.m. in St. Paul United Church of Christ, Pinckneyville, with Pastor Karen Stahr Terada officiating.  Interment was in Galum Presbyterian Cemetery, rural Pinckneyville.
	Friends called at the Pyatt-Harrawood Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, on Wednesday February 20 from 5 until 9 p.m. and on Thursday morning from 8 until 10:30 a.m.
	Memorials may be made to the Pinckneyville Community Hospital.
